RE: SNL

I pretty much stopped watching after Belushi died! Did tune in for the episodes hosted by Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and then of course, for Tina Fey doin' Sarah. I'm still cracking up over that one, you betcha!

RE: Passport America

It bears noting here that the restrictions sometimes encountered are not always set in stone. As the RVing industry is impacted by the economy, some parks are more than willing to work with you to help fill up their sites.
We recently stayed in a PA CG for 5 days at the discounted rate (normally restricted to 2 nights) because the owner looked out his window and saw less than 50% capacity in the off season and made a smart move. We would not have stayed in the area at full price as we were just traveling through, but the owner helped us make an easy decision and we enjoyed the pleasant relaxing stopover.
PA is the best 40$ investment we make each year, even if we only use it once.

RE: Nick Saban

A truly great coach.
... and a worthless human being. I wouldn't want him near any impressionable young men. Lie, cheat, quit, and skulk out in the middle of the night, all the while shifting blame. Some coach!
I am NOT going to be the coach of 'Bama... :R

Ask the Miami Dolphins and their fans what they think of Saban. A greedy liar.
Ditto. And a coward. :M

RE: campground memberships

We love Mt. Lakes in Lytle Creek and spend a couple weeks there every year. Will head there after Turkey Day. Spent a Xmas there once and got a light dusting of snow. Gets cold at night, but that helps keep the population down, which as FT, we sure appreciate the quiet. Gets very noisy and lots of kids in the summer.

RE: a polite NFL thread

Hey, fickman, I think we jinxed Big Ben by talking about Leftwich. He did a heckuva nice job filling in for him tonight after the shoulder injury. Very controlled, very accurate. Good for him. Sure hope Ben's OK though. These QB's are dropping like flies. :E

RE: a polite NFL thread

fickman, thanks for being so civil. I agree their problem goes deeper than QB, though Culpepper or even Chris Simms would have provided better insurance than Johnson or Bollinger. Heck, Leftwich was out there for the pickins' before the Steelers grabbed him.
Poor decision-making all around. Except for Romo, who was the one to call Favre and get his opinion on the pinkie. ;)
New SB prediction: Titans over Giants.
Go Pats! Tommy, get well soon.

RE: Lost 6 of my 10 lbs already

Good for you Crowe. As a former personal trainer who dealt with lots of of unhealthy and obese clients, I am thrilled for you. Losing weight is incredibly tough, and unfortunately, many do not win that battle.
Hope you are also trying to get some exercise. They go hand in hand and benefit the whole body. But don't go crazy there. As a diabetic, I'm sure you already know the importance of taking care of your feet. If not, get your behind back into your docs and demand a thorough explanation of what you should be doing. Don't take no for an answer. There are lots of support resources for diabetics out there. I wish you continued success. Keep us informed of your progress. It might just motivate some others out there.

RE: how to meet an RVing companion

I know there are some groups out there, but I'm not positive of the names. Loners on Wheels & Solo Rvers are some you can search for as they should be close enough. My 74 MIL joined one for the company, but I can't recall the name.
Also, RVing mags, like Highways & Escapees, have social groups listed in the back, maybe online too. Some are legit, some probably not so. Please be careful. Good luck.

RE: Sat TV

We FT and see more DirecTV than DISH sats nationwide. Wouldn't be without our DirecTV, especially during football season. Don't know about DISH, but DirecTV gives the NFL Network - a must! With east and west coast feeds, I get more options of games to watch. They are comparable in cost. Our basic pkg., no Showtime or HBO, runs $60/mo. If you search in the techie forums, you may get feedback on who has better quality, service, etc. from folks who have had both.
Easily less than half of resorts we stay in have cable. Even less in SP. Not consistently enough for true footballs I wouldn't think. The sat dish is on a portable tripod which I set up. DH likes football, but I'm the fanatic, so I learned to do the setup. Easy!
Good luck. Go Pats!

Tri City RV in Myrtle Creek. OR

Just wanted to let everyone know about this great little find in Oregon, a mile off I-5 just south of Roseburg. Pulled in today after calling a few hours earlier to see if they could accommodate us for five days and would they honor Passport America (directory stated discount good for one night or if available). We were directed to a beautiful pull-through, on concrete pad, with FHU, free cable and WiFi, for the discount of $14/night good for all five days.
Haven't checked bathrooms or anything else, but who cares? Nice friendly manager/owner willing to run his business smartly. I would definitely recommend this park (more resort-looking than CG) and come here again when passing through.
Funny thing is, earlier I had called the other PA park in Myrtle Creek and the woman who answered was adamant that I could only get two days at the discounted price (back in, no wifi or cable either). Kinda made my decision easier. I love when it all comes together like this. :)
Good travels everyone.

RE: Info on resort memberships for fulltiming

I am looking into C2C with Coast to Coast. Can you send me a website or phone #. I need some info.
Thanks!
C2C IS Coast to Coast. And you can't just join. You first have to buy into a home park or system (like TT, WHR, or K/M), then you get the affiliates C2C, AOR, ROD, etc.
As has been mentioned, you can get good deals resale via eBay or check the back of RVing mags (Highways, Escapees) But make sure you know what you are getting with your resale contract re: the affiliates, park usage, time in/out, additional costs, annual dues, frozen dues, canceling, buying out, etc.
Good luck.

RE: New Jersey RV Park help

I was born and raised in NJ and if I were you, I'd go with the original plan and fly.
I was going to suggest the same thing, but afraid I would be accused of Jersey bashing. Actually, if at all possible, I'd fly right over NJ and call it a day. :B
